When Song Jinzhi returned to Song Corporation, some people were happy while others were dissatisfied. The happy ones were naturally the young employees who had worked with Song Jinzhi in the past. As a leader, although Song Jinzhi was an Omega, she was nothing like what they imagined—indecisive. Song Jinzhi was efficient and decisive, with her own unique insights. When negotiating business, she exuded a queen-like demeanor. She was not inferior to any Alpha, which was Jennifer's assessment of her and the opinion of most people who interacted with Song Jinzhi.
On the other hand, there were those who did not share this positive view. The Song family business was massive, and the Song family itself was a significant clan. Song Jinzhi's father, Song Qi, was the eldest in the family, with a younger brother known as "Second Uncle Song" by the younger relatives. In Song Jinzhi's mind, Second Uncle Song was not an easy person to get along with.
He disliked Omegas being in the public eye and even believed that Omegas should stay at home to take care of the family, which was in complete contrast to Song Jinzhi's advocacy for equality. Second Uncle Song was the Vice President of the company while Song Jinzhi was the General Manager. She recalled how after her engagement to Gu Sijiu, Second Uncle Song had eagerly suggested she quit her job and stay at home with her wife, not to toil in such a demanding role.
The demanding role Second Uncle Song referred to was, of course, the position of general manager at Song Corporation. Song Jinzhi did not want to discuss this with him and knew he had often whispered in her parents' ears, telling them to let her be a normal Omega and focus on family rather than work. Upon Song Jinzhi's return to Song Corp, the most unhappy person was undoubtedly Second Uncle Song, along with his group of followers.
Despite their unhappiness, they still had to maintain some level of courtesy. When Song Jinzhi arrived at the company in the morning, she saw many leaders waiting for her at the entrance. Upon seeing her, they greeted her with smiles. After exchanging pleasantries and nodding to Uncle Song, Song Jinzhi allowed Jennifer to take her to her former office.
"General Song, you're finally back. We've missed you so much." Song Jinzhi was young and had a good temperament, so many employees at Song Corporation respected her and regarded her as a friend. Speaking casually, they applauded her arrival, warming her heart. She thanked them and entered her office, planning to ask Jennifer about the company's situation during her absence.
"General Song, here are the recent financial reports, along with some documents that need your review." Jennifer placed various documents in front of Song Jinzhi, who nodded and immediately immersed herself in work. She became so absorbed that she lost track of time, only breaking for lunch. Aside from that, she hardly took a break, and when she finally looked up, she realized it was time to get off work.
Knowing she couldn't let work consume her entirely as she had just returned, with many tasks awaiting her attention, she understood she needed to pace herself. Standing up, she stretched her slightly sore neck and back. It dawned on her that her body had become more delicate from lack of work, even sitting for a little while made her feel sore.
Song Jin took some documents back home intending to continue reviewing them. When she arrived home, Gu Sijiu had just finished dinner and was sitting in the living room watching TV, as expected, it was another cliché romance TV drama. Gu Sijiu, however, was engrossed in the drama, eagerly watching it every day when it aired.
"You're back. How was your first day at work?" Gu Sijiu saw Song Jin come in with a stack of files, lazily leaning on the couch as she asked. Having been a general manager herself, she understood how busy one could get after some time away from work. Seeing the obvious fatigue on Song Jinzhi's face, she knew she must be exhausted.
"It was okay, but there are still some things I haven't finished. I won't be having dinner." Song Jinzhi replied, glancing at the food on the table. She had neither the time nor the appetite to eat. After removing her makeup and taking a shower, she took the documents to her study. Gu Sijiu continued watching her drama in the living room and realized it was already 10 PM, but the light in Song Jinzhi's study was still on.
After thinking for a moment, Gu Sijiu went to the kitchen to heat a cup of milk and a cup of coffee. The milk was for herself, while she placed the coffee on Song Jinzhi's desk.
"Why don't you take a break and have some coffee? Don't overwork yourself, I'll have to take care of you if you get sick." Gu Sijiu said lightly. Song Jinzhi was surprised by her sudden entrance. She glanced at the steaming coffee, quietly said thank you, and continued reading the documents.
Song Jinzhi wasn't dressed too casually for being at home, she wore a white shirt and khaki pants, sitting there. One of her sleeves was slightly pushed up, revealing a slender and fair wrist. Gu Sijiu had always found Song Jinzhi's wrist beautiful, the small wrist bone and the connection between her wrist and palm formed an almost straight line.
Her long fingers were busy comparing a stack of documents with the ones on her computer. Sometimes, when she encountered questions, she would type on the computer to mark them for later review. The serious side of Song Jinzhi gave Gu Sijiu a very different feeling. Though usually, Song Jinzhi had a serious demeanor, Gu Sijiu understood that it was because she couldn't smile in front of her. But now, it was clear that Song Jinzhi hadn't noticed her presence.
Her chestnut-colored hair fell over her shoulders, the side-swept bangs not covering her cheek, revealing her delicate face. Gu Sijiu had to admit that despite always teasing Song Jinzhi that she wasn't as good-looking as herself, in reality, they were on par. They had different styles, Gu Sijiu knew her looks were more flamboyant and vibrant, while Song Jinzhi's beauty lay in both her delicate features and her elegance.
Her looks had a vintage quality, with soft facial features. Her nose was straight, and her lips resembled cherry blossoms. She was always polite when looking at others, but when it came to Gu Sijiu, she revealed a different expression. When she focused intently on something, the corners of her almond-shaped eyes would slightly lift, and her dark eyes sparkled remarkably.
The wind blowing in through the window cracks tousled her long hair. Song Jinzhi raised her hand to tuck it back and noticed the coffee on the table, deciding to take a sip. It was only at this moment that she realized Gu Sijiu was still in the room. This discovery surprised Song Jinzhi, as she was very sensitive to Gu Sijiu's scent. Even with the air purifier running at full blast, it couldn't completely mask the other person's aroma. The only explanation was that she had been so engrossed in her documents and had grown somewhat accustomed to Gu Sijiu's scent during their recent interactions, allowing her to remain in the room for so long without noticing.
"Why are you still here?" Song Jinzhi looked up at Gu Sijiu, her gentle eyes revealing a hint of impatience, completely different from her earlier demeanor. Gu Sijiu pressed her lips together and took a sip of the milk in front of her. Seeing her not answer the question but instead drink milk in front of her made Song Jinzhi feel the scene was a bit strange, leaving her unsure how to continue reviewing her documents.
"You never said I couldn't stay here, did you? And besides, you don't look as ugly when you're working on those files. I got distracted and watched a bit longer. Appreciating a beautiful Omega is every Alpha's instinct, and you're the only one who can ignore a high-quality Alpha like me in front of you." Gu Sijiu said casually, realizing she was implying she was a high-quality Alpha. Song Jinzhi's lips twitched slightly, unable to help but glance at Gu Sijiu.
In some aspects, she had to admit that Gu Sijiu was indeed impressive. However, that impressiveness was only in terms of appearance, her character and other qualities could only be described as terrible. In Song Jinzhi's mind, a truly quality Alpha should be polite, quiet, and respectful towards every Omega, not like Gu Sijiu, a superficial scumbag relying on looks alone.
"You might as well give it up." Song Jinzhi said softly. Hearing her retort, Gu Sijiu wasn't annoyed. She glanced at Song Jinzhi, who seemed to be holding her neck as if uncomfortable, and suddenly stepped a little closer. "Is your neck hurting?" Gu Sijiu's sudden closeness made Song Jinzhi instinctively step back. With a table between them, Gu Sijiu leaned over it, staring intently at her. She wore a shirt with a neckline that wasn't too tight, and leaning down allowed Song Jinzhi to see her chest, which, though small, created a deep cleavage due to the effect of her lingerie.
"What are you doing?" Song Jinzhi disliked Gu Sijiu's proximity. Although their relationship had eased somewhat, she still felt guarded. Knowing that she didn't like being touched, Gu Sijiu had no interest in that, she merely wanted to show Song Jinzhi some simple massage techniques. After all, she often had to sit at the computer for long periods as well and had researched massage techniques.
"I'm not doing anything, I just wanted to tell you that if your neck hurts, pressing these two spots will help. Otherwise, when you're old and bedridden, unable to eat or drink, and needing someone to help you to the bathroom, I won't take care of you." Gu Sijiu said earnestly, ignoring Song Jinzhi's look of disdain. She suddenly turned around, swept up her deep cherry-colored hair, and pressed her fingers on the two spots at the back of her neck. Song Jinzhi looked at her long, fair neck, but her gaze unconsciously fell on the glands at the back of Gu Sijiu's neck.
Alphas are not marked, but when their nuchal glands are infused with pheromones by Omegas, it can create a sense of belonging and submissiveness. There is a subtle difference in that area compared to other skin, there is a light red oval mark, which is also the most fragrant spot for Alpha and Omega scents. When Gu Sijiu lifted her hair, Song Jinzhi easily saw the gland there and smelled a richer scent than before.
It smelled wonderful and alluring, definitely a scent that many Omegas would like. So, does the Omega who gets close to Gu Sijiu also enjoy this scent?
Song Jinzhi realized what she was thinking, and her expression soured a bit, especially since Gu Sijiu was obliviously emitting this scent. Although her intentions were good, it still disrupted Song Jinzhi. She walked over, no longer looking at the files, intending to take a break. However, as she approached Gu Sijiu, there was a magnetic pull that made her want to lean in closer and smell her scent more deeply. Gu Sijiu didn't notice Song Jinzhi coming over and was still pressing on her neck. Suddenly, a cold hand touched a spot on the back of her neck, causing her body to shiver.
"Your scent is too strong." Song Jinzhi whispered. She also knew that her current actions were inexplicable, but she couldn't help but use her hand to rub the gland on Gu Sijiu's nape, feeling it pulsating slightly and emitting a richer scent. Song Jinzhi felt her consciousness becoming somewhat muddled, and when she came to her senses, Gu Sijiu was nestled in her arms.
"Wooden face, where are you touching? It's quite comfortable, rub a few more times."
