"Major General, your mech has been serviced and is ready for a trial run at any time." Shan Ni'er handed over a document, and Gu Sijiu looked down to review it. After a while, a warm cup of tea was placed beside her. Gu Sijiu glanced over and saw it was Bai Wei who had set it there, softly saying thank you.

"Let's try it out now, let's see how rusty I've become." Gu Sijiu said as she got up and headed towards the training ground. Her vacation had come to an end a few days ago, and she was back in the military, needing to quickly familiarize herself with everything here. To avoid drawing attention, she had spent the past few days studying how to operate mechs. The original owner had only B-level mental strength as an Alpha, which is the talent and ability to control mechs. Because of this, she was looked down upon by many soldiers, especially since her father, Gu Nancheng, was an Alpha with S-level mental strength.

Looking at the manual, Gu Sijiu felt that it didn't seem too difficult, but she needed to try it out practically to understand the specifics. She asked Shan Ni'er to accompany her for some practice and went to change into her battle suit. The battle suit was a quantum outfit that could resonate with the mech. Compared to regular clothing, the battle suit was lighter and more flexible. Although it was form-fitting, Gu Sijiu's figure made it look incredibly perfect on her.

With her excellent proportions and no excess fat on her body, the pure white tight suit hugged her petite yet perfectly curved backside. Gu Sijiu admired herself in front of the mirror, couldn't resist taking a selfie, thinking of sending it to Song Jinzhi. After hesitating for a while, she carefully examined the photo, made sure her expression was fine, and every detail was perfect before blushing and sending the photo.

In the next few minutes, Gu Sijiu inexplicably became nervous. She turned off her communicator, sat down, and then quickly stood up again. She really wanted to see Song Jinzhi's reaction to the photo but felt that if she responded too quickly, it would imply she had been waiting for her reply. Gu Sijiu paced around the room, torn between wanting to see Song Jinzhi's reply and wanting to appear aloof, as if she had just casually sent a photo without expecting compliments.

Finally, after waiting ten minutes, Gu Sijiu could no longer hold back and opened her communicator. Unfortunately, the photo showed it had been sent, but there was no response from Song Jinzhi. The blank screen only displayed her own silly smiling face. Feeling a bit disappointed, Gu Sijiu felt like she had caught some strange illness lately, being overly concerned about everything related to Song Jinzhi.

Once she had confirmed her feelings, everything changed. Gu Sijiu longed to be gazed at by Song Jinzhi, wishing the other's eyes would linger on her more. Every day, she wore beautiful dresses specifically for Song Jinzhi to see, but unfortunately, the other would only glance at her and then look away. Gu Sijiu felt a bit discouraged and even wondered if her charm was lacking.

Unable to retract the photo, Gu Sijiu had to let it go and changed into her combat suit to head to the armor room. It was much larger than she had imagined, although the mechs were not as exaggeratedly huge as she expected. The height of the mechs was about three meters, and the interior space was very spacious, with buttons that seemed even more complicated than those in an airplane cockpit.

Gu Sijiu settled into her position, fastened her seatbelt, and attached the connecting device to the sides of her head. This was the basic equipment that linked the pilot to the mech, allowing the Alpha's mental power to connect with the mech for more precise control. After preparing everything, Gu Sijiu activated the mech, and a holographic visual appeared before her.

"Major General, how does it feel?" Shan Ni'er's voice came through the mech, sounding a bit deeper.

"Not bad, let's give it a try." Gu Sijiu replied softly, initiating the attack first. The mech she was equipped with prioritized combat skills but had relatively low protective capabilities. Gu Sijiu opened the weapon compartment and took out the most advanced firearm used by the Federal Bureau, one of the most commonly used weapons in combat.

Gu Sijiu pressed the foot pedals to control the legs while manipulating the buttons in front of her with her hands. She found that controlling the mech was not as difficult as she had imagined, and many steps and processes were incredibly clear in her mind. The gun was not heavy, and Gu Sijiu slid to the side, firing a series of bullets. Shan Ni'er dodged to the side, swinging a giant sword toward her. Gu Sijiu agilely retreated to evade the attack, surprising Shan Ni'er with her swift movements. She clearly remembered that the previous Major General was not good at dodging and would usually charge in head-on, but the current Major General was evidently much more agile than before.

Gu Sijiu progressed from initially adapting to gradually becoming proficient, realizing her body reacted faster than her brain. She didn't dislike the feeling of controlling the mech. In fact, she found a certain joy in it.

"Shan Ni'er, pay more attention. With your current level, are you really unable to match up to me, who hasn't touched this thing for half a year?" Gu Sijiu said lightly as she quickly charged forward, intending to launch a direct attack. The warning light on the left leg of the mech lit up, but Gu Sijiu didn't notice, and neither did Shan Ni'er.

Bai Wei, watching the two from a distance, sensed something was off. She hurriedly opened her communicator to notify Gu Sijiu, but it was too late. The warning light on the left leg flashed rapidly, and within a few breaths, it exploded, electricity surging out, and dark smoke billowing forth. Shan Ni'er watched as Gu Sijiu suddenly knelt halfway to the ground, forcibly retracting the swung giant sword, injuring her shoulder in the process.

"Major General! Major General, are you okay?" Shan Ni'er rushed out of the mech, and at that moment, Bai Wei ran over. She opened Gu Sijiu's mech and pulled her out. Gu Sijiu frowned slightly, feeling a sharp pain in her left knee. Although there was no bleeding or break, she was definitely injured from the blast's shockwave.

"I'm fine. Why are you two so tense..." Gu Sijiu murmured, looking up to see that Shan Ni'er and Bai Wei both had red-rimmed eyes, making her feel that these two Alphas were even more fragile than herself at that moment.

"Bai Wei, take the Major General to the infirmary first." Seeing Bai Wei holding on to Gu Sijiu tightly, Shan Ni'er quickly spoke up. Bai Wei then remembered this, and along with Shan Ni'er, they helped Gu Sijiu toward the medical room. The doctor, noticing Gu Sijiu's injury, asked if she wanted to call Gu Nancheng. Gu Sijiu quickly shook her head in refusal.

"Doctor, how is the Major General?" Shan Ni'er asked, slightly relieved when she saw there was no bleeding, but her tone remained tense. For soldiers, the knee is a crucial part, and if it were too severely injured, the Major General might need a long recovery.

"The injury was caused by the explosion of an external component, Fortunately, it's not too serious. Just some light injuries from the blast. Rest for a while and apply some ointment." the doctor said after examining her carefully. Gu Sijiu felt relieved upon hearing this. She looked at her swollen knee and felt a twinge of fear reflecting on it.

"Alright, since the doctor says it's nothing serious, you two don't need to blame yourselves."

"Major general, do you need to notify the Madam? Sooner or later, General Gu will find out about your injury." Gu Sijiu knew there were many people in the military who were loyal to Gu Nancheng, and her injury would not stay hidden. Whether to inform Song Jinzhi was another matter. Personally, Gu Sijiu wanted Song Jinzhi to come pick her up, but if she notified her and she didn't show up, it would be quite embarrassing...

"Then could you help me make a call to Song Jinzhi?" Gu Sijiu thought for a moment and still hoped that Song Jinzhi would know about her injury. She played a little trick and specifically asked Shan Ni'er to make the call. When Shan Ni'er saw Gu Sijiu's expectant expression, she understood what was on her mind. Shan Ni'er took Gu Sijiu's communicator and contacted Song Jinzhi.

"Gu Sijiu, is there something you need?" The communicator quickly connected, and Song Jinzhi's clear voice came from the other end. Gu Sijiu listened nervously, her hands hidden under the blanket clutching it tightly. "Madam, it's me. The Major General was accidentally injured during a military exercise. Would it be convenient for you to come pick her up?" Shan Ni'er said softly, and then they heard Song Jinzhi's breath hitch on the other end.

"Is she seriously hurt? I'll come over right now." After Song Jinzhi finished speaking, she cut off the connection. Shan Ni'er looked at the suddenly darkened communicator, then turned to Gu Sijiu, who was cupping her face, her cheeks flushed and eyes sparkling with joy.

"Shan Ni'er, you did great. You and Bai Wei can go ahead and get busy. I'll just wait here by myself." Gu Sijiu was very satisfied with Song Jinzhi's anxious tone, and the earlier disappointment of not receiving a response to her photo was completely swept away.

Seeing Shan Ni'er already getting up to leave, Bai Wei also followed suit. Before she left, Gu Sijiu called out to her. "Bai Wei, after you and Shan Ni'er go back, investigate who went to the armory during that time period." Gu Sijiu whispered, having been in this world for half a year and gaining some understanding of it. The original owner's position and background would attract a lot of envy, and given the original owner's temperament, she probably had offended quite a few people. She didn't believe that the earlier incident was an accident and it was likely caused by someone.

"Major General, does it mean that someone wants to harm you..."

"Yes, keep this matter quiet. Investigate it privately with Shan Ni'er."

"Understood, I will not let those who want to harm the General get away with it. I will investigate this matter as soon as possible."

After Bai Wei left, Gu Sijiu stayed alone in the infirmary waiting for Song Jinzhi. Bored, she fiddled with the communicator and then realized that Song Jinzhi had replied to the photo she sent earlier. Although it was just three words —"It's very beautiful"—it made Gu Sijiu feel elated for quite a while. She glanced at the time the message was sent and found it coincided with when she was operating the mech, perhaps that was when the other person saw the photo. Thinking that Song Jinzhi not only saw it but also replied, Gu Sijiu felt even happier. And the three words "It's very beautiful" made her feel pleased no matter how she looked at them.

Not long after, hurried footsteps could be heard coming from the corridor, sounding like more than one person. Gu Sijiu looked towards the door and then saw Song Jinzhi enter, her face showing some worry that visibly relaxed upon seeing that Gu Sijiu was okay. Gu Sijiu looked at her for a while before noticing that Jing Yu was following behind Song Jinzhi.

"What happened to you?" Song Jinzhi's voice was calm. Hearing her question, Gu Sijiu briefly described the process of her injury. She spoke lightly, but she noticed Song Jinzhi's evident concern when she mentioned the mech explosion.

"It's nothing serious. A few days of rest and I'll be fine. I appreciate Miss Jing coming as well." Gu Sijiu greeted Jing Yu, but she was ignored.

"It seems that Major General Gu's injury is not serious, and she hasn't lost any limbs, yet here we are, rushing over while I was in the middle of lunch with A'jin." Jing Yu's tone and expression were quite displeased. She had originally planned to have lunch with Song Jinzhi, but when Song Jinzhi received a call, she hurriedly rushed over, saying that Gu Sijiu was injured.

Jing Yu knew Song Jinzhi to some extent, and the concern in her eyes couldn't be fake. She vaguely felt that something was off and insisted on coming along. In her view, Song Jinzhi's sudden change in attitude toward Gu Sijiu must have been triggered by some trickery on Gu Sijiu's part.

"Xiao Yu, you should go back first. There are some things I will explain to you later." Song Jinzhi had never mentioned Gu Sijiu's changes to Jing Yu, nor had she brought up the changes in her own relationship with Gu Sijiu. She knew Jing Yu felt protective of her and thought she should find a chance to explain everything. Hearing Song Jinzhi say this, Jing Yu glanced at Gu Sijiu, giving Song Jinzhi a look that said she was waiting for an explanation before turning to leave.

After Jing Yu left, Song Jinzhi came over and sat on the edge of the bed. "I'm sorry, Xiao Yu still has some misunderstandings about you. Don't take her words to heart." Song Jinzhi said softly, and Gu Sijiu naturally understood what was going on, seeing through the situation.

"It's nothing. I'm not close with her, so whatever she thinks doesn't concern me. I just returned to the team a few days ago, and now I have to take leave again. I'm starting to wonder if the army is against me. I'll have to rest at home for the next few days and can't even cook, my leg hurts." Gu Sijiu said with a hint of grievance, especially emphasizing the words "my leg hurts," speaking lightly but with a sense of lingering pain.

"Gu Sijiu, you sound just like a spoiled Omega." Song Jinzhi spoke frankly. To her, it was perfectly normal for an Alpha to get injured while serving in the military. Gu Sijiu had often gotten into conflicts before, coming back covered in injuries. However, hearing Gu Sijiu speak in such a tone of pain was something she had never seen before. Upon hearing Song Jinzhi's words, Gu Sijiu was taken aback for a moment. Before the reminder, she hadn't realized she was acting spoiled. Her face blushed slightly at that moment, and she felt like she wanted to put a couple of ice cubes on her burning ears.

"Well... who says an Alpha can't act spoiled? I can say I'm in pain, can't I? You don't care about me at all." Gu Sijiu quietly retorted, but she felt that her response sounded even more like being spoiled. She simply lay back on the bed pretending to be dead, not saying a word. At this moment, she heard Song Jinzhi sigh, then get up to pour herself a glass of water.

"Gu Sijiu, don't be upset. I didn't mean to show I don't care about you. If you need anything, I can take care of you. I just happened to take a few days off." Song Jinzhi said softly. Hearing that she had actually taken time off, Gu Sijiu opened her eyes in surprise, meeting Song Jinzhi's hesitant expression. It then dawned on Gu Sijiu... Song Jinzhi's heat period was approaching.

"Is my leg injured at the wrong time?" Gu Sijiu frowned at her leg, feeling like it seriously affected her combat capabilities. What if her leg got injured and she couldn't enjoy things? Even if Song Jinzhi wanted her, she wouldn't use difficult positions, right? As long as she lay there obediently, it should still be comfortable, right?

"Well, if you find it inconvenient, I can take suppressants." Song Jinzhi said, biting her lower lip softly. But inside, she felt a certain indescribable aversion to the suppressants. Just like most people say, if you haven't tasted the taste of delicious food, you won't crave it. Similarly, without experiencing a heat period with Gu Sijiu, Song Jinzhi wouldn't know how wonderful that feeling could be. Now that she had tried it, being asked to take suppressants made her feel uncomfortable.

"Don't use suppressants. I just hurt my leg, not my hands. Besides... even if I can't do anything, I can still use my hands for you." Gu Sijiu said softly, her face flushed. Realizing what she meant, Song Jinzhi's face turned bright red as well. She lowered her head and gave a soft "mm," looking into Gu Sijiu's eyes. The misty gaze in Gu Sijiu's eyes was bright, focused solely on her, with only herself reflected in those pupils.

In that moment, Song Jinzhi felt a strange desire to hug Gu Sijiu, for reasons she couldn't quite understand.
